Let’s face it! there is always a gap between EDA tools/flows and real IC projects. In addition, knowledge and skills of the project team members will always have a gap or out of sync. Because not everyone would share their hands-on knowledge with others on the next project. When EDA license is tight, everyone’s productivity will reduced and that will likely impact the project schedule. However, often the biggest issue is the lack of experience technical leaders to develop and maintain methodology to keep the whole team going in the right direction especially the dynamics in the IP, EDA and libraries vendors.
Consequently, lead to long design cycle, high engineering cost, quality problem, and potentially missing the project tape-out schedule.
